ChatGPT Ads vs Google & Meta
New channel, old question: which one actually pays?
ChatGPT Ads reaches people mid-question, the way search once did — but with no history to benchmark against. Modus puts ChatGPT Ads, Google and Meta in one table on the same measure: cost per paying customer, not cost per click.
- All three networks on one cost-per-customer measure
- Every lead keeps its network and campaign to the order
- Budget moved between channels with a number behind it
Today
What it looks like right now.
Each network reports success in its own currency — impressions, clicks, form fills — and none of them is a sale.
A "cheap" lead on one channel and an "expensive" lead on another tell you nothing about which one closed.
ChatGPT Ads has no industry benchmark yet, so its numbers have nothing to be compared against — except your own other channels.
Budget gets moved on gut feel because no report spans all three.
Where the money went
Cheapest lead, Meta. Best customer, ChatGPT.
One month, three networks, the same lead-and-order data behind every row. Cost per lead is what each platform reports; cost per paying customer is what Modus computes. Figures are illustrative.

The agent
What it does on every enquiry.
One engine, three networks
ChatGPT Ads, Google and Meta spend all join to the same conversation → lead → order spine.
The same metric everywhere
Every channel is judged on cost per paying customer and ROAS, so the comparison is honest.
Side-by-side board
One view ranks campaigns across all three networks — not three dashboards you mentally average.

Meta, Google Ads and OpenAI Ads accounts, each read-only.
- 02
Leads carry their source
Every lead keeps its network, campaign and ad from first touch to order.

Questions we get asked
Is ChatGPT Ads more like Google or Meta?
In intent it is closest to search — it reaches people while they are asking about something. In format and targeting it is its own thing. Which is why comparing it needs a metric that does not care about format: cost per paying customer.
Can I really compare them fairly?
Yes, if every channel is measured the same way. Modus joins all three to the same lead-and-order data, so "this campaign cost ₹4,600 per customer" means the same thing whether it ran on ChatGPT, Google or Meta.
Should I move my budget to ChatGPT Ads?
Not on principle. Run a test budget, let Modus attribute the closed revenue, and compare its cost per customer to your Google and Meta campaigns over the same period. Then decide.
Does the comparison need write access to my ad accounts?
No. Comparison is read-only on all three networks. Publishing campaigns from Modus is a separate, optional step.
